My paintings are about conveying the sense of wellbeing that exists in beautiful places. I paint to capture the light and the seasons, the sense of harmony and abundance . I often return to painting country lanes, fields and meadows in Kent close to where I live.
I am also half French. France and the painters who were inspired by the landscapes of France have had a big impact on my painting and the spirit which I paint with.
I have a background in design and originally trained as an architect and urbanist. So I've been fascinated by what makes some places special for many years . My painting is part of this fascination. Today I have more understanding about what conveys sense of place on the canvas and why but essentially it's still about reaching that moment of harmony and spaciousness in the painting that inspires me.
